The TOOL-FLO 562662LJ5R is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Flo-Lock series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This left-hand insert carries a GP3 manufacturer grade with a micrograin carbide substrate and a PVD-applied TiN coating for extended wear resistance. The cutting width is 1.57 mm (0.0618 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm (0.1098 inches). A positive rake angle of 55 degrees promotes clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. Machinists and tooling specialists working in production turning environments specify this insert for its consistent geometry and tight tolerances on groove profiles.
This insert is suited for grooving operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both high-production and job-shop turning applications. The FLG2062 style and left-hand orientation make it appropriate for internal or external grooving setups where right-to-left tool travel is required. The Flo-Lock series is engineered for secure insert seating in compatible toolholders, reducing insert movement under interrupted cuts or high feed rates. It is typically installed on manual or CNC lathes by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting the FLG2062 insert style in left-hand orientation. ISO code FLG-2062L can be used to confirm toolholder compatibility.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop, locked-out condition per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or clamp key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut for this insert grade. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure.
