The TOOL-FLO 562647RN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Flo-Lock series, designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a TiN coating applied via PVD process, which improves surface hardness and extends tool life in demanding cuts. The insert has a right-hand orientation, a cutting width of 1.19 mm (0.0470 inches), and a maximum depth of cut of 1.27 mm (0.0500 inches). Manufacturer grade GP50 and material grade C5/C6 make it well suited for general-purpose and finish grooving on steel and stainless steel workpieces. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
The 562647RN4C fits into Flo-Lock style toolholders accepting the FLG insert style, size code 2047, with an ISO code of FLG-2047R. It is used in external grooving and recessing applications on ferrous materials including stainless steel. The positive rake angle of 55 degrees reduces cutting forces and is beneficial when working with tighter tolerances or thinner-walled workpieces. The insert is a single-use design and is not intended for multi-use re-indexing beyond its geometry. Typical applications include O-ring grooves, snap-ring grooves, and undercut profiles on turned components.
Designed for use in Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting FLG-style inserts, size 2047, with an ISO code designation of FLG-2047R. Compatible with C5 and C6 material grade applications including steel and stainless steel workpieces.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is de-energized before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert clamp. Verify insert seating and clamping force before resuming cutting operations to prevent insert movement or breakage during the cut.
