The TOOL-FLO 10474AC50F is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting external API Rotary Shoulder Connections threads. It carries the AC50F manufacturer grade with an AlTiN PVD coating applied over a micrograin carbide substrate, delivering hard-surface wear resistance suited to interrupted cuts and abrasive workpiece materials. The insert has a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch decimal) inscribed circle, a 0.189 inch thickness, and cuts at 4 threads per inch with a 60-degree included angle. It is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators running threaded connection work on oilfield tubular and tool-joint components.
This insert is applied in external threading operations conforming to API Rotary Shoulder Connection specifications, common in oilfield drilling tool and pipe connection manufacturing. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel. The L53 insert style in the laydown series fits tool holders designed for that geometry. With a single tooth per side and a 0.0380 inch corner radius, the insert produces clean thread forms on both production and repair threading passes in shop or field machining environments.
Designed for use in L53-style laydown threading tool holders configured for external API Rotary Shoulder Connections thread forms. Suitable for machining cast iron and steel workpieces. Confirm holder pocket geometry and insert size code 53 compatibility before installation.
Threading inserts of this type are installed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp screw to secure the insert - do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to avoid seating errors that affect thread accuracy.
