The TOOL-FLO 0253030AC50E is a solid carbide on-edge threading insert designed for cutting Acme thread forms on both external and internal workpiece features. It carries a neutral hand cutting direction, making it adaptable to standard threading setups without a handed orientation requirement. The insert is finished with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating applied via PVD process, which improves wear resistance and heat tolerance during threading operations on cast iron and steel. With a 0.625-inch inscribed circle and a cutting tip width of 0.1184 inches, this insert is engineered for precise thread profile engagement at 3 threads per inch for both external and internal applications. It is installed by machinists and tool-room operators running CNC lathes or manual threading equipment.
This insert is suited for threading operations in metalworking environments where Acme thread forms are required, commonly found in power transmission components, lead screws, and jack screw assemblies. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel, covering a wide range of production and maintenance machining scenarios. The neutral rake geometry and on-edge insert style provide consistent chip flow and reduced setup complexity. The countersunk hole design allows secure clamping in compatible on-edge threading toolholders.
Designed for use in on-edge threading toolholders that accept TNMC-style inserts with a 0.625-inch inscribed circle. Compatible with cast iron and steel workpiece materials. Verify toolholder specification against insert size code 54 and TNMC insert style before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping instructions. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder to achieve proper clamping torque without damaging the countersunk hole. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before installation to ensure consistent insert positioning and thread accuracy.
