The TOOL-FLO 0251030AC50E is a solid carbide, on-edge threading insert designed for cutting Acme thread forms on both external and internal applications. It carries a neutral cutting direction and neutral rake geometry, making it suitable for use in straight-ahead threading operations without a preferred hand. The insert is finished with an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, which improves heat resistance and extends tool life when threading ferrous materials. With a 0.625 inch inscribed circle and a cutting tip width of 0.1184 inches, it handles 3 TPI Acme threads on both external and internal profiles. This insert is typically installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for threading operations on cast iron and steel workpieces, covering both external and internal Acme thread forms at 3 threads per inch. The on-edge series design positions the insert geometry for efficient chip control and consistent thread profile accuracy. It fits standard TNMA-style insert pockets and is appropriate for use on CNC turning centers and manual lathes equipped with compatible toolholders. Typical applications include power transmission components, lead screws, and other parts requiring Acme thread geometry in a production or maintenance machining context.
Designed for use in TNMA insert-style toolholders. Compatible primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert size code 54 acceptance before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Confirm the toolholder pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before mounting to ensure proper insert seating and prevent premature edge failure. Do not exceed the insert's rated depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material being threaded.
