The TOOL-FLO 0141000AC3R is a solid carbide, on-edge threading insert designed for external and internal thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to a 60-degree V thread standard, it covers a range of 5 to 24 TPI for both external and internal applications. The insert features a neutral cutting direction, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and an AlTiN PVD coating that extends tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. Grade AC3R is a manufacturer-designated carbide grade suited for universal threading applications. Machinists and CNC operators working in production or job shop environments will find this insert a reliable option for threading operations requiring consistent thread form accuracy.
This insert is applied in turning and thread-cutting operations on CNC lathes, manual lathes, and threading machines where a 60-degree V thread profile is required. It is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering ferrous, non-ferrous, stainless, heat-resistant alloys, and cast materials as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The on-edge insert style provides increased edge strength and is commonly used in production threading where insert longevity and repeatable thread form are priorities.
Designed for use in on-edge threading toolholders accepting a TNMC-style insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. Suitable for external and internal threading operations across universal workpiece material groups as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or replacing the insert. Verify that the toolholder pocket and clamping mechanism are compatible with the TNMC insert style and 0.5-inch IC size before installation. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and consult applicable shop safety procedures when handling carbide inserts.
