The TOOL-FLO 0139000AC50C is a solid carbide, on-edge threading insert designed for cutting 60-degree V-form threads on both external and internal applications. Manufactured in grade AC50C with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating, this insert handles a wide thread pitch range of 5 to 24 TPI. The neutral cutting direction and neutral rake geometry make it a versatile option for thread turning operations on CNC lathes and threading centers. With an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches and a thickness of 0.189 inches, it fits standard TNMA-style toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production and job-shop threading operations.
This insert is suited for threading cast iron and steel workpieces in both residential-scale job shops and commercial manufacturing environments. The 5 to 24 TPI range covers a broad spectrum of unified and metric-equivalent thread pitches for standard fastener profiles. The AlTiN coating provides heat resistance at elevated cutting speeds, making it appropriate for dry or semi-dry threading cycles where coolant use is limited or controlled. It is a direct fit for TNMA insert-style threading toolholders commonly used on turning centers and manual engine lathes.
Designed for use in TNMA-style threading toolholders configured for 60-degree V external and internal thread forms. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and cast iron (K) per ISO material classification.
Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state. Confirm the toolholder pocket and clamping screw are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Do not force or rock the insert into the pocket, as carbide substrates are brittle and susceptible to chipping under lateral stress. Verify thread form and pitch with a thread gauge or optical comparator before running a production cycle.
