The TITAN USA TR96386 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal workpieces. Built from cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers excellent wear resistance and heat tolerance, making it well suited for reaming harder alloys and stainless materials. The reamer is sized to wire gauge No. 22, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.1570 inches (4.00 mm). It features 6 straight flutes for smooth chip evacuation and consistent surface finish. At 4 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length and a straight shank, it mounts directly in standard drill chucks, collets, or machine tool holders. This is an uncoated tool intended for production and maintenance machining applications.
This chucking reamer is used in machine shop, toolroom, and maintenance environments where accurate hole sizing to wire gauge No. 22 is required. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers. Typical applications include finishing pre-drilled or punched holes in ferrous metals, aluminum, and heat-resistant alloys. The cobalt construction makes it a practical choice when carbon or standard HSS reamers wear prematurely due to material hardness or elevated cutting temperatures.
Designed as a standard straight-shank chucking reamer for use in any machine tool holding system that accepts a straight shank of this diameter class, including drill chucks, ER collets, and similar toolholders.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in machine tool spindles. Always ensure the workpiece and tool are secured before beginning the cut, and use an appropriate cutting fluid for the material being reamed. Reamers should follow a pre-drilled or bored hole; never use a reamer to remove excessive stock. Inspect the shank for damage and confirm runout is within acceptable tolerance before use to avoid bell-mouthing or oversized holes.
