The TITAN USA TC79508 is a solid carbide straight-flute die drill bit designed for precision drilling in hardened steels, tool steels, and other difficult-to-machine materials. It features an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating that improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting applications. The 140-degree split point reduces walking at entry and requires no center punch for accurate hole placement. At 1/8 inch (0.125 inches) in diameter with a 2-inch overall length and 3/4-inch flute length, this bit is well suited for tight-tolerance work in die, mold, and toolroom environments. It is typically installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This drill bit is built for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where close-tolerance holes are required in hard or abrasive workpieces. The straight-flute geometry is specifically suited for drilling into pre-hardened steels, cast iron, and similar materials where a standard spiral flute would deflect or chatter. The two-flute configuration and solid carbide substrate provide rigidity at small diameters. Series 196 identifies the design family within the TITAN USA line. No coolant-through capability is present in this model.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard toolroom drill bit compatible with any drill press, CNC machining center, or manual mill using a standard 1/8-inch diameter straight-shank tool holder or collet chuck.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or tool-and-die technicians familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and tool holder are fully powered down and locked out before loading or removing the bit. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed adjustment, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces. Use appropriate cutting fluid or mist coolant even though this model has no coolant-through feature, as external lubrication extends tool life and improves hole quality.
