Product Description

The TITAN USA TC79249 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in the TC79 series, designed for precision drilling in demanding materials. It carries an ALTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life by increasing surface hardness and heat resistance. The drill measures 1.75 inches overall length with a 7/8-inch flute length, features a 118-degree standard point angle, and runs a right-hand, regular spiral flute geometry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.0730 inches in diameter, matching the wire gauge No. 51 drill size (0.0730 inches decimal). This bit is sized for tight-tolerance hole production in ferrous and exotic workpiece materials and is sold as a single unit.

The TC79249 is engineered for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium — ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It is suited for machine-tool applications in manufacturing, maintenance, and tool-room environments where close-diameter tolerances and hard-material penetration are required. The 12xD flute-to-diameter ratio and two-flute spiral geometry support chip evacuation in moderate-depth drilling operations up to 7/8 inch maximum drilling depth. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or cutting oil should be applied where required by the workpiece material.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction for rigidity and wear resistance in hard-material drilling
  • ALTiN coating improves heat resistance and extends cutting-edge life
  • 118-degree standard point angle suitable for general-purpose drilling in steel and cast iron
  • Right-hand, regular spiral flute with two flutes for efficient chip evacuation
  • Diameter tolerance of -0.0005 to +0.0000 inches for precise, close-fit hole sizing
  • Straight-cylindrical shank compatible with standard drill chucks and collets

Compatibility

Designed as a general-purpose solid carbide jobber drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools with compatible chuck capacity. Suitable for workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (ISO groups P, M, K, S).

Installation Notes

Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck are de-energized and fully stopped before inserting or removing the bit. Verify chuck or collet capacity accommodates the 0.0730-inch shank diameter. Because this bit has no coolant-through capability, apply appropriate external cutting fluid or flood coolant for stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium applications to prevent premature coating wear.
