The TITAN USA TC20256 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for precision drilling in tight-clearance applications. Built from solid carbide, it delivers the hardness and heat resistance needed for drilling ferrous and non-ferrous materials at high speeds. The bit features a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact, reducing walking and the need for a center punch. At 1.5 inches overall length, this stub-length format provides added rigidity and minimized deflection compared to jobber-length bits. The 0.0465-inch (Size 56 wire gauge) diameter makes it suitable for fine-hole work requiring close dimensional tolerances. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision sheet metal workers are the primary installers.
This bit is suited for production drilling in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-operated drill stations where short, rigid tooling is preferred. The screw machine length format is commonly selected for applications involving small fastener pilot holes, PCB manufacturing setups, and fine-feature metal fabrication. It is not designed for masonry or wood applications. The bright uncoated finish makes it compatible with cutting fluids and coolants applied externally, as this bit does not support internal coolant-through delivery.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production tooling option for applications requiring wire gauge Size 56 drilling with a straight-shank solid carbide screw machine length bit, Series 200.
Installation of this bit is performed by machinists and precision fabricators using a keyed or keyless drill chuck or collet system rated for the shank diameter. Ensure the drill press or machining center is powered off and fully stopped before changing tooling. Secure the shank with adequate clamping force to prevent slippage, and verify spindle speed is appropriate for the material and bit diameter before operation. Do not exceed the bit design limits by applying side-loading forces or using the bit for reaming operations.
