The TITAN USA TC20244 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for precision drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from solid carbide, this bit handles tough materials where high-speed steel would wear prematurely. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking on entry, minimizing the need for a center punch on most surfaces. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 0.5-inch flute length, the stub-length body provides rigidity and reduces deflection in short-hole drilling operations. A bright, uncoated finish suits general-purpose use where coating compatibility with cutting fluids or materials is a concern. This bit is sold individually and suited for use in CNC machines, drill presses, and benchtop setups.
This drill bit is sized at wire gauge number 44, equivalent to 0.0860 inches in decimal, placing it in the small-diameter range common in precision machining, electronics assembly, and light fabrication work. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. The regular spiral flute design promotes chip evacuation in typical through-hole and blind-hole drilling. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or cutting oil should be applied at the workpiece when drilling harder alloys.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use drill bit for machines accepting straight-shank screw machine length bits in the small-diameter wire gauge range.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by machinists or trained trade professionals. Ensure the drill chuck or collet is clean and properly tightened before operation to prevent bit slippage or breakage, particularly at this small diameter. Solid carbide bits are brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed rates, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Apply cutting oil or appropriate coolant to the workpiece surface when drilling ferrous metals to extend tool life.
