The TITAN USA CD60853 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal drilling applications. It features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and allows the bit to self-center without a pilot hole. The bit is ALTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coated, which increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life in high-heat cutting environments. At 0.0595 inches in diameter and 1.875 inches overall length, this is a wire gauge size 53 drill bit suited for precision hole work in tough materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks, and the right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole operations.
This bit is built for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It fits applications where standard high-speed steel bits lose hardness due to heat buildup. Typical use cases include fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, aerospace component work, and any trade scenario requiring consistent, accurate holes in ferrous and hard-to-machine materials. The 7/8-inch flute length accommodates a maximum drilling depth of 0.875 inches, making it appropriate for thin stock and precision drilling tasks.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.0595-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S). Part of the Series CD60 line of cobalt jobber drill bits.
Installation and operation of this drill bit should be performed by machinists or trade professionals familiar with drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle operation. Ensure the drill chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is securely clamped before starting. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to manage heat, even though coolant-through is not available on this bit. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
