The TITAN USA CD47749 is a No. 48 wire-size jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it offers improved surface hardness and extended tool life compared to uncoated HSS. The bit features a 118-degree standard point angle, a right-hand spiral flute configuration, and a straight-cylindrical shank. Overall length is 2 inches, with a 1-inch flute length and a maximum drilling depth of 1 inch. The decimal diameter is 0.0730 inches, conforming to the wire gauge drill series. This is a single-piece, general-purpose drilling tool suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with light-duty, small-diameter hole requirements.
The CD47749 is used in applications where small, precise holes are required in non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, and copper, as well as plastics and composite materials. Its regular spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in these materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks, making it compatible with bench-mounted drill presses, hand drills, and CNC setups. It is commonly used in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC service work where pilot holes or small clearance holes are required for fasteners, wire routing, or tube fitting access.
Designed as a standard wire-gauge jobber drill bit for use in any drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle equipped with a chuck sized to accept a 0.0730-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the TITAN USA CD47 series of small-diameter jobber drills.
Installation is performed by machinists or trade technicians using a keyed or keyless drill chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and confirm the chuck is tightened evenly to prevent runout. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured before drilling to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling metals to extend bit life and maintain hole quality.
