The TITAN USA CD40236 is a wire gauge size 36 jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in metal and other demanding workpiece materials. Manufactured from high speed steel with a black oxide coating, this bit features a standard 118-degree point angle and a right-hand spiral flute configuration. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 1.4375-inch flute, it falls within the classic jobber proportions suited to general-purpose bench and machine drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks without special adapters. This bit is used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople requiring reliable performance in a common wire gauge size.
The CD40236 is rated for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. Its regular spiral and two-flute geometry support chip evacuation across a broad range of feed and speed conditions. It is well suited to production drilling on drill presses and hand drilling with portable equipment in fabrication shops, maintenance environments, and industrial service applications. The Series CD40 designation places it within TITAN USA's standard jobber drill offering for wire gauge sizes in the 0.1000-inch to 0.1500-inch range.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use jobber drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.1065-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using any drill press, CNC machine, or portable drill with a compatible chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Appropriate cutting fluid or coolant is recommended when drilling steel or stainless steel to extend tool life, though this bit does not support through-coolant. Replace the bit if point dulling, chipping, or diameter drift outside tolerance is observed.
