The TITAN USA CD40227 is a wire gauge size 27 jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of metalworking applications. Ground from high speed steel with a black oxide finish, it carries a 118-degree standard point angle and a right-hand spiral flute configuration. The 0.1440-inch diameter is held to a tolerance of -0.0007 to +0.0000 inches, making it suitable for dimensionally consistent hole production. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-7/8 inch flute, it fits standard drill chucks and is sized for use with handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC applications where a straight-cylindrical shank is appropriate. Licensed machinists, maintenance mechanics, and tool and die tradespeople are the primary installers.
This bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium-bearing materials. It falls in the 0.1000 to 0.1500 inch drill bit size range and handles a maximum drilling depth of 1-7/8 inches. The 2-flute regular spiral design at a 13xD flute-to-diameter ratio aids chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole operations across both production and maintenance environments. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of one.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard jobber drill for use in any drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle accepting a 0.1440-inch straight-cylindrical shank, consistent with the Series CD40 product line.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, or metalworking tradespeople using a drill press, hand drill, or CNC machine with an appropriate chuck. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before powering the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for stainless steel and superalloy materials to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if point geometry is compromised.
