The TITAN USA CD40218 is a No. 18 wire-gauge jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of metallic and non-ferrous materials. Ground from high speed steel (HSS) and finished with a black oxide coating, this bit delivers solid wear resistance and reduced friction during cutting operations. The 118-degree standard point angle suits the majority of common drilling applications without requiring a special grind. At 3.25 inches overall length with a 2.125-inch flute, this is a compact, easy-to-chuck bit suited for bench drill presses, hand drills, and production drilling setups used daily by machinists, pipefitters, plumbers, and electricians.
The CD40218 is built for production and maintenance drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. Its 0.1695-inch diameter corresponds directly to No. 18 wire gauge, making it a standard selection when layout and tap-drill charts call for that size. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw drill chucks without adapters, and the regular spiral flute evacuates chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. It is sold and packaged individually.
Designed as a standard jobber-length replacement drill bit for use in any three-jaw drill chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at 0.1695 inches diameter. Suitable for bench drill presses, hand-held drills, and CNC drilling operations in the CD40 series application range.
Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized three-jaw chuck before operation and confirm the bit runs true to avoid premature wear or breakage. Always set drilling speed according to the workpiece material and bit diameter — harder materials such as stainless steel and superalloys require slower RPM and consistent feed pressure. Use cutting fluid or thread-cutting oil when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and improve hole finish. Wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling.
