The TITAN USA CD32636 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Built to NAS 907 Type J specification, this bit carries a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and allows drilling without a center punch in many applications. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. At 1-13/16 inches overall length, the screw machine format provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it well suited for close-quarter work and production drilling. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and industrial maintenance mechanics are the primary users.
This bit fits applications where wire gauge sizing is required. The No. 36 wire size corresponds to 0.1065 inches decimal, placing it in common use for tap drilling, clearance hole drilling, and precision hole work in ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard alloys. The cobalt construction handles elevated cutting temperatures that would degrade standard high-speed steel tooling. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held electric drills where chuck capacity accommodates the shank diameter.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for No. 36 wire gauge screw machine length drill bits in standard three-jaw drill chucks and collet systems accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Always wear appropriate eye protection and ensure the workpiece is clamped securely before drilling. Cobalt bits tolerate higher speeds than high-speed steel, but consult published feeds-and-speeds charts for the specific material being drilled. Inspect the cutting edges before reuse and regrind or replace when point geometry shows wear.
