The TILLMAN 554 is a triple-layer back hand pad engineered for heavy-duty heat protection in welding and high-temperature work environments. The top layer is aluminized carbon Kevlar, the middle layer is ceramic wool rated to 1000 degrees F (537 degrees C), and the bottom layer is acrylic coated fiberglass. Together these three layers shield the back of the hand from radiant heat, sparks, and weld spatter. The pad measures 5.5 inches wide by 7.5 inches long and is designed to fit over existing work gloves. Leather and elastic straps allow fast, secure on and off without removing primary hand protection. Welders, foundry workers, and furnace technicians are the primary users of this accessory.
The 554 is suited for applications where standard gloves alone do not provide sufficient back-of-hand protection. Typical use cases include MIG and stick welding, torch cutting, forge work, and any process that generates sustained radiant heat or heavy spatter. The pad slides over most welding gloves without restricting grip or dexterity on the palm side, making it a practical add-on layer for overhead welding passes or prolonged exposure near open flame and arc.
Designed as an over-glove back hand pad for use with standard welding and heat-resistant work gloves in welding, foundry, and high-temperature industrial applications.
Installed by welders and industrial workers without tools. Slide the pad onto the back of the hand over existing gloves and secure the leather and elastic straps snugly. Inspect straps and all three pad layers before each use for signs of heat damage, fraying, or delamination. Do not use as a substitute for primary hand protection rated to the full thermal hazard of the task.
