The THOMAS BETTS TK218SC is a compression-style conduit coupling designed for use with electrical metallic tubing (EMT). Manufactured from die cast zinc, this coupling provides a concrete-tight connection between two sections of EMT conduit without the need for insulation. The compression connection type delivers a secure, tool-assisted fit that resists pullout and maintains electrical continuity across the joint. Licensed electricians install this fitting as part of a raceway system in commercial and residential electrical rough-in work where concrete-tight integrity is specified.
This coupling is suited for interior and concrete-encased conduit runs where EMT is the specified raceway material. Its concrete-tight rating makes it appropriate for installations embedded in slabs or exposed to conditions where a standard set-screw fitting would not meet code requirements. The 3-inch trade size accommodates large-diameter EMT runs typical of main feeders, panel circuits, and high-capacity branch circuit conduit systems.
Designed as an OEM-style compression coupling for use with 3-inch trade size EMT conduit in concrete-tight raceway installations.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements for EMT raceway systems. De-energize all circuits in the affected raceway before beginning work. Compression fittings require a compression tool or wrench to fully seat the compression ring and ensure a concrete-tight connection. Do not substitute compression fittings with set-screw type couplings in applications where concrete-tight integrity is required.
