The THOMAS BETTS RC6 is a self-insulated, one-piece crimp-on wire joint designed to terminate and group multiple copper conductors running in a single direction. Rated for 600 volts in standard applications and 1,000 volts for fixture and sign wiring, it accepts wire sizes ranging from 18 AWG to 12 AWG. The nylon insulation is rated to 105 degrees C, making it suitable for environments with elevated ambient temperatures. Licensed electricians and fixture installers use the RC6 to create a reliable, insulated termination point where several conductors must be joined without a traditional wire nut or block terminal.
The RC6 is used in residential and light commercial electrical work, sign and lighting fixture wiring, and panel or junction box terminations where copper conductors between 18 AWG and 12 AWG need to be grouped at a single point. The connector accepts a minimum wire combination of four 18 AWG conductors and a maximum combination of two 12 AWG conductors, giving installers flexibility when consolidating branch or fixture circuits. The white nylon sleeve provides visual identification and insulation integrity after crimping.
Designed for use with copper conductors from 18 AWG to 12 AWG in standard crimp-tool applications requiring an insulated one-piece wire joint connector.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and any applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any connections. Use a calibrated ratchet crimp tool appropriate for insulated wire joints to ensure a full, secure crimp — an incomplete crimp can result in a loose or high-resistance connection. Do not re-crimp or reuse a connector that has already been fully seated.
