The THOMAS BETTS J2124 is a bronze dual-nut rod clamp designed for grounding and bonding applications in electrical installations. It accepts solid wire in the 4 to 10 AWG range and clamps onto pipes or rods between 2-1/2 and 4 inches in diameter. The dual-nut design provides secure mechanical and electrical connection without the need for additional hardware. At 6-5/16 inches overall length, the J2124 is sized for standard trade applications and is installed by licensed electricians working on grounding electrode systems or equipment bonding runs. It meets RoHS compliance requirements and carries UL Listing under File E3060.
This clamp is suited for residential and commercial electrical work where a reliable grounding connection to water pipe or ground rod is required. Typical applications include grounding electrode conductor terminations to metal water piping systems and bonding of HVAC, plumbing, or other metallic systems per NEC requirements. The bronze construction resists corrosion in both indoor and outdoor environments, making it appropriate for damp or wet location installations where ferrous hardware would be unsuitable.
Designed as an OEM-style grounding clamp for use with solid copper conductors in the 4 to 10 AWG range on pipes or rods ranging from 2-1/2 to 4 inches in diameter.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), particularly articles governing grounding electrode systems and bonding. De-energize all circuits and verify with a meter before making any conductor connections. Ensure the pipe or rod surface is clean and free of paint, scale, or corrosion at the contact point to achieve a proper low-resistance bond. Do not use this clamp with stranded conductors outside the stated AWG compatibility range.
