The THOMAS BETTS EYS61-TB is a conduit sealing fitting designed for use in hazardous locations where preventing the passage of gases, vapors, and flames through conduit systems is required. Built from iron with a threaded connection, this fitting installs on 2-inch trade size rigid metal conduit (RMC) or intermediate metal conduit (IMC). It is a non-insulated fitting intended for licensed electricians working on industrial, commercial, or processing facility installations where NEC Article 501 hazardous location requirements apply. The sealing compound is packed into the fitting body after installation to form the required seal.
This fitting is used in Class I hazardous locations where flammable gases or vapors may be present. Typical applications include petrochemical plants, grain handling facilities, paint spray areas, and other environments classified under NEC Division or Zone hazardous area designations. The EYS61-TB accepts 2-inch trade size rigid and IMC conduit systems and is suited for conduit runs that require sealing at enclosure entries, boundaries between hazardous and non-hazardous areas, or at specified intervals per code requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style sealing fitting for 2-inch trade size rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) in hazardous location wiring systems.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician familiar with NEC Article 501 hazardous location conduit sealing requirements. De-energize all circuits and verify the area is free of flammable gases or vapors before beginning work. Fill the fitting body with an approved sealing compound to the required depth after all conductors are routed through the fitting. Do not substitute sealing compounds not rated for the classified area or fitting size.
