The THOMAS BETTS ALB-1 is an LB-style aluminum conduit body designed for 1/2-inch trade size IMC and rigid metal conduit systems. It features an oval shape with an overall length of 4-9/32 inches and an interior volume capacity of 4.3 cubic inches. The gray aluminum housing is built to withstand weather exposure, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor raceway installations. Electricians use LB bodies to make 90-degree direction changes in conduit runs while maintaining conductor access through a removable cover plate. The ALB-1 meets UL listing requirements and is RoHS compliant.
This conduit body is used in commercial and residential electrical installations where a conduit run must change direction at a 90-degree angle, typically at building entries, exterior wall penetrations, or exposed raceway transitions. It is rated for use with IMC and rigid aluminum conduit at 1/2-inch trade size. The oval body profile accommodates standard wire pull access. Installers in industrial, commercial, and residential settings use this fitting where code-compliant, weather-resistant conduit transitions are required.
Designed for use with 1/2-inch trade size IMC and rigid metal conduit systems. Suitable as an OEM-style fitting for standard aluminum rigid conduit raceway assemblies where an LB body is specified.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and verify with a voltage tester before opening any conduit body or pulling conductors. Secure conduit connections on both hubs before threading wire through the body, and do not exceed the listed conductor fill capacity of 4.3 cubic inches when sizing wire. Reinstall the cover plate with a suitable gasket to maintain the weather-resistant rating after conductor installation.
