The THOMAS BETTS 71015 is a non-insulated, D-shaped ring terminal designed for permanent crimp connections on 1 AWG copper conductors. The terminal features a copper contact for reliable conductivity and is suited for high-current electrical terminations in industrial, commercial, and trade electrical work. At 2-1/32 inches long and 1 inch wide with a 3/8-inch stud hole, it accommodates standard lug mounting points. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians install this type of terminal where secure, low-resistance wire-to-stud connections are required.
This terminal is used in panel wiring, motor connections, grounding applications, and other installations requiring a robust crimp lug on 1 AWG wire. The 3/8-inch stud size fits common bus bar and equipment terminal studs found in electrical enclosures and switchgear. It is appropriate for both new construction and service work where NEC-compliant terminations are specified. The non-insulated design allows visual inspection of the crimp joint after installation.
Designed as an OEM-style crimp lug for use with 1 AWG copper conductors terminating on 3/8-inch mounting studs in electrical enclosures, panels, and equipment.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician following applicable NEC requirements. De-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage before terminating any conductor. Use a calibrated ratchet or hydraulic crimping tool rated for 1 AWG lugs to achieve a proper crimp — hand tools are not sufficient for this conductor size. After crimping, inspect the joint visually and apply heat-shrink sleeving or electrical tape if insulation is required by the application or code.
