The THOMAS BETTS 606-TB is a steel conduit reducer designed for use with rigid and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems. It steps down from a 1-1/4 inch trade size to a 1 inch trade size, using a threaded connection on both ends. The reducer is non-insulated and rated for non-hazardous area applications. Electricians install this fitting when transitioning between two different conduit trade sizes within a run, maintaining a secure, code-compliant mechanical connection throughout the raceway system.
This reducer is used in commercial and residential electrical installations where rigid metal conduit or IMC is the raceway of choice. It is suited for dry or damp locations in non-hazardous environments. Typical applications include panel feeder runs, branch circuit raceways, and conduit systems routed through framing, concrete, or exposed structural areas where a mechanical trade size change is required.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use with rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems requiring a threaded 1-1/4 inch to 1 inch trade size reduction in non-hazardous locations.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements for rigid and IMC conduit systems. De-energize all circuits in the affected raceway before beginning work. Thread the reducer hand-tight onto the conduit ends, then tighten with a pipe wrench to achieve a secure mechanical connection. Do not over-torque fittings or force misaligned threads, as this can compromise the integrity of the conduit system.
