The THOMAS BETTS 54970BE is a non-insulated rectangle ring terminal designed for high-current electrical connections using compression-style crimping. Built with a copper contact and titanium nitride (TiN) plating, this terminal provides a low-resistance, corrosion-resistant connection point for 4/0 AWG conductors. At 2.95 inches long and 1.03 inches wide, with a 1/2 inch stud hole, it is suited for heavy-duty power distribution applications. The TiN plating improves surface hardness and contact reliability under sustained load. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance professionals install this terminal in panel boards, switchgear, bus bar connections, and large feeder circuits.
This terminal is used in residential service entrance work, commercial electrical distribution, and industrial power wiring where 4/0 AWG conductors are terminated to bus bars, lugs, or stud-mounted connection points. The 1/2 inch stud size accommodates common bus bar hardware. The non-insulated design is appropriate for installations where insulated boots or heat shrink are applied separately, or where the connection point is enclosed within a listed enclosure. It is a single-piece compression terminal sold individually.
Designed as a compression-style ring terminal for 4/0 AWG copper conductors terminated to 1/2 inch stud connections in panel boards, switchgear, and bus bar assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating any conductors. Use a calibrated compression crimping tool rated for 4/0 AWG terminals to achieve a proper gas-tight crimp. Do not use this terminal as a substitute for a listed insulated terminal in applications requiring insulation at the termination point.
