The THOMAS BETTS 54909BE is a non-insulated rectangle ring terminal designed for compression connections on 1/0 AWG conductors. The barrel and ring contact are made from copper with a TiN (titanium nitride) plating for improved conductivity and corrosion resistance. The terminal measures 2.23 inches in overall length and 0.75 inches in ring width, with a barrel thickness of 0.13 inches. It accepts a 3/8-inch stud. Licensed electricians and industrial electrical assemblers use this terminal to terminate large-gauge conductors at bus bars, lugs, and equipment grounding points where a secure, low-resistance mechanical connection is required.
This terminal is suited for high-current electrical assemblies in residential, commercial, and light industrial applications. Its non-insulated construction makes it appropriate for installations where insulation is added separately or where the connection point is housed inside a protected enclosure. The compression connection style requires a properly sized compression tool to achieve a gas-tight, code-compliant crimp on 1/0 AWG copper or aluminum conductors.
Designed as an OEM-style compression ring terminal for 1/0 AWG conductors requiring a 3/8-inch stud termination in standard electrical panel, switchgear, or equipment grounding applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize the circuit and follow lockout/tagout procedures before terminating conductors. Use a calibrated compression crimping tool sized for 1/0 AWG terminals to achieve a proper gas-tight crimp. Do not use a mechanical screw-type lug tool as a substitute for a compression crimp tool with this terminal style.
