The THOMAS BETTS 54509 is a non-insulated, crimp-on butt splice terminal designed to join two wire ends in a secure, low-resistance connection. Constructed from copper with a titanium nitride (TiN) contact plating, it delivers reliable conductivity and corrosion resistance in electrical splicing applications. The terminal measures 1.63 inches in overall length and 0.52 inches in overall diameter, making it compact enough for tight wire runs and junction points. It accepts two wire entries, one at each end, and is installed with a standard crimping tool. Electricians and electrical contractors install this terminal where a clean, code-compliant wire splice is required without added insulation bulk.
This butt splice terminal is suited for residential and light commercial electrical wiring applications where a non-insulated crimp connection is acceptable or where heat shrink or additional insulation will be applied over the splice after installation. The pink color coding is a standard industry identifier used to designate specific wire gauge ranges. It is appropriate for panel wiring, control circuits, and field splicing tasks where a dependable mechanical and electrical connection is needed.
Designed as an OEM-style non-insulated crimp butt splice terminal for use in electrical wiring and control circuit applications requiring a standard crimp-on wire splice connection.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician using a ratcheting or inline crimp tool rated for the terminal type. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any splice connection in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements. Strip wire ends to the appropriate length before inserting into each barrel end and apply a full crimp to both entries. If the installation environment requires insulation over the splice, apply compatible heat shrink tubing after crimping.
