The THOMAS BETTS 54163-TB is a non-insulated, square ring terminal designed for compression-style terminations on 3/0 AWG conductors. The terminal body is copper with a tin nitride (TiN) contact plating that resists corrosion and supports reliable long-term conductivity under load. Measuring 1.98 inches in overall length and 0.92 inches in ring width, this terminal accepts a 5/16-inch stud and produces a mechanically secure, low-resistance connection. It is identified by an orange color code for quick AWG-size identification in the field. Electricians and electrical contractors working on heavy-gauge wiring applications will recognize this as a dependable compression lug for panel, bus, or equipment terminations.
This terminal is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations where 3/0 AWG copper conductors require a secure ring-style termination. Typical applications include service entrance wiring, main panel connections, generator hookups, and large motor or equipment feeds where a compression crimp is specified over mechanical set-screw alternatives. The square ring profile provides consistent contact geometry at the stud.
Designed as an OEM-style compression ring terminal for use with 3/0 AWG conductors and 5/16-inch stud hardware in standard electrical panel, bus bar, and heavy-equipment termination applications.
Installation of compression ring terminals on 3/0 AWG conductors should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize and lock out the circuit before beginning any termination work. Use a calibrated compression tool rated for the barrel size and conductor gauge specified by the terminal manufacturer. Do not over-insert or under-insert the conductor into the barrel before crimping, and verify the completed crimp with a pull test before energizing.
