The THOMAS BETTS 54162-TB is a non-insulated rectangle ring terminal designed for high-current compression connections on 3/0 AWG copper conductors. It measures 1.75 inches in length and 0.92 inches in width, with a contact thickness of 0.1300 inches. The terminal features a copper contact body with a TiN (titanium nitride) plating that resists corrosion and maintains low contact resistance over time. Compression-style termination provides a gas-tight, mechanically secure connection without soldering. Electricians and industrial maintenance technicians use this terminal for heavy-gauge wire terminations in power distribution, motor circuits, and panel work.
This terminal is suited for residential, commercial, and industrial electrical installations where 3/0 AWG conductors must be reliably terminated at a 1/4-inch stud. It is commonly installed in load centers, bus bars, motor control centers, and heavy-duty power distribution assemblies. The orange color coding aids in quick visual identification of conductor gauge during installation and inspection. Its non-insulated construction makes it appropriate for applications where insulation is applied separately or where space constraints require a low-profile termination.
Designed as an OEM-style compression ring terminal for 3/0 AWG conductors requiring a 1/4-inch stud connection in heavy-gauge electrical termination applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating or inspecting connections. Use a calibrated compression tool rated for 3/0 AWG terminals to achieve a proper crimp — do not use uncalibrated or mismatched tooling. Inspect the finished crimp for deformation, cracks, or incomplete seating before restoring power.
