The THOMAS BETTS 54157 is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for compression connections on 2/0 AWG conductors. It provides a secure, permanent mechanical and electrical connection between heavy-gauge wire and a 1/4-inch stud. The copper contact with titanium nitride (TiN) plating resists corrosion and maintains low contact resistance under load. At 1.65 inches long and 0.83 inches wide with a 0.13-inch barrel thickness, this terminal is built for high-current applications where a reliable, code-compliant termination is required. Electricians and electrical contractors use this terminal in panel work, motor connections, grounding assemblies, and power distribution wiring.
This terminal is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where 2/0 AWG copper or aluminum conductors must be terminated at bus bars, lugs, or bolted connection points. The square ring geometry allows the terminal to remain in place on the stud during assembly without rotating, which simplifies installation in tight enclosures and panel sections. The non-insulated design allows for direct visual inspection of the crimped barrel after installation.
Designed as an OEM-style compression ring terminal for 2/0 AWG conductors terminating at 1/4-inch stud connections in commercial and industrial electrical assemblies.
Installation requires a compression crimping tool rated for 2/0 AWG terminals. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating. Seat the conductor fully into the barrel before applying the crimp. Follow NEC requirements for wire termination torque at the stud fastener when completing the bolted connection.
