The THOMAS BETTS 54147 is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for permanent compression connections in electrical wiring applications. Built with a copper contact body and a titanium nitride (TiN) plating, this terminal provides a reliable, corrosion-resistant termination point for 1 AWG conductors. At 1.73 inches in length and 0.68 inches in width, it accepts a 5/16 inch stud and sits at 0.11 inches thick. It is installed by licensed electricians and electrical contractors where a clean, uninsulated lug is required at panel boards, bus bars, or equipment terminations.
This terminal is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where 1 AWG wire must be terminated to a 5/16 inch stud. Common applications include motor control centers, switchgear, grounding assemblies, and heavy-duty equipment connections. The square ring profile provides positive seating against flat mounting surfaces and resists rotation during bolt tightening. The green color coding aids identification during installation and inspection. It is sold as a single piece, making it suitable for one-off service replacements or small-quantity jobs.
Designed as an OEM-style compression ring terminal for use with 1 AWG conductors terminated to 5/16 inch studs in residential, commercial, or industrial electrical assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating or removing any lug. Use a calibrated compression tool rated for the wire gauge and terminal series to ensure a proper crimp. Do not over-tighten the stud fastener, as this may deform the square ring and compromise the connection.
