The THOMAS BETTS 54142-TB is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for compression-style wire terminations on 2 AWG conductors. The barrel accepts a 2 AWG wire and the square ring seats on a 5/16-inch stud. The copper contact body features a titanium nitride (TiN) plating that resists corrosion and reduces contact resistance over the service life of the connection. At 1.73 inches long and 0.59 inches wide with a 0.11-inch barrel thickness, this terminal is suited for panel wiring, grounding lugs, and heavy equipment connections where a secure mechanical and electrical bond is required. Electricians and panel technicians install this terminal using a compression crimping tool matched to 2 AWG tooling.
This terminal is used in industrial control panels, electrical distribution equipment, and commercial wiring applications that require a reliable, code-compliant ring termination at 2 AWG. The non-insulated design is appropriate where terminations are covered by a separate insulating sleeve or where exposed metal terminals are acceptable per the installation specification. The square ring profile provides stable seating on square or hex stud hardware commonly found in bus bars and grounding assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style compression ring terminal for 2 AWG wire on 5/16-inch stud hardware in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical installations.
Installation requires a compression crimping tool rated and calibrated for 2 AWG non-insulated terminals. De-energize and lock out the circuit per NFPA 70E requirements before making any termination. Strip the conductor to the correct length per the terminal barrel depth and inspect the crimp for a secure, gas-tight connection before torquing the stud fastener. Do not use this terminal with wire sizes outside the rated 2 AWG specification.
