The THOMAS BETTS 54116 is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for compression-style electrical connections in demanding trade applications. It features a copper contact body with a titanium nitride (TiN) plating for improved conductivity and corrosion resistance. Measuring 3.2 inches in overall length and 1.41 inches in ring width, it is sized for a 1/2-inch stud and has a contact thickness of 0.17 inches. Electricians and electrical contractors install this terminal when making permanent, high-integrity ring connections in panel work, industrial wiring, and commercial electrical assemblies where insulation is handled separately.
This terminal is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where compression tooling is used to create secure, gas-tight terminations. Its square ring profile provides stable seating on stud-mounted bus bars, equipment terminals, and grounding points. The non-insulated design is appropriate for applications where heat-shrink or sleeving insulation is applied independently, or where bare terminations are required by the installation configuration. Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any termination. Use only the compression tooling specified for the terminal series to achieve a properly formed crimp. Do not over-crimp or apply heat directly to the terminal body, as this may compromise the TiN plating and contact integrity.
