The THOMAS BETTS 54109 is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for compression connections on 1/0 AWG conductors. It features a copper contact with TiN (titanium nitride) plating for reliable conductivity and corrosion resistance. The terminal measures 1.88 inches in overall length and 0.75 inches in ring width, with a 3/8-inch stud hole to suit standard lug mounting points. Electricians use this terminal when terminating large-gauge copper conductors in panel work, switchgear, or heavy-duty equipment connections where a bare, non-insulated lug is required.
This terminal is suited for commercial and industrial electrical applications where 1/0 AWG wire must be securely landed on a 3/8-inch stud. Typical install scenarios include bus bar terminations, battery cable ends, generator output connections, and service-entrance lug work. The square ring geometry provides additional surface area contact compared to standard round ring terminals, making it a common choice in tight-clearance enclosures and switchboard layouts where conductor alignment matters.
Designed as an OEM-style compression lug for use with 1/0 AWG copper conductors terminated on 3/8-inch studs in commercial and industrial electrical assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements for conductor terminations. De-energize and lock out the circuit before installing or removing any terminal lug. Use a calibrated compression crimping tool rated for 1/0 AWG terminals to achieve a proper gas-tight crimp — hand tightening alone is not sufficient. Verify stud torque requirements per the equipment manufacturer's specifications before final tightening.
