The THOMAS BETTS 5232 is a straight liquidtight conduit fitting designed for use with liquidtight flexible metal conduit (LFMC) in electrical installations. Built from steel with a metallic zinc finish, this connector provides a secure, watertight termination point at junction boxes, enclosures, and electrical panels. At a trade size of 1/2 inch, it suits standard conduit runs in both commercial and residential wiring applications. The steel construction delivers mechanical durability in demanding environments where corrosion resistance and physical protection of conductors are required. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this type of fitting as a standard component in wet or oily location wiring systems.
This fitting is suited for applications where liquidtight flexible metal conduit must terminate at an enclosure, box, or panel in locations exposed to moisture, oil, or other liquids. Typical install scenarios include industrial equipment hookups, HVAC equipment wiring, pump panels, and outdoor electrical connections. The straight configuration is used when the conduit approaches the knockout entry at a direct angle without requiring a bend at the termination point.
Designed for use with liquidtight flexible metal conduit (LFMC) at 1/2 inch trade size. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting for standard 1/2 inch liquidtight flexible metal conduit terminations.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements for liquidtight conduit systems. De-energize all circuits in the enclosure before installing or removing conduit fittings. Hand-tighten the fitting into the knockout, then snug with appropriate conduit wrenches without over-torquing the locknut, which can distort the fitting body or enclosure wall. Verify the conduit and fitting assembly maintains the liquidtight rating required for the installation environment.
