The THOMAS BETTS 5221 is a straight compression-style conduit connector designed for use with EMT (electrical metallic tubing). Manufactured from steel with a non-insulated design, it provides a secure, concrete-tight and water-resistant termination where EMT enters an enclosure, panel, or junction box. The compression connection method ensures a reliable mechanical and electrical bond without requiring a setscrew, making it a dependable choice for both exposed and embedded conduit runs. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this fitting as part of branch circuit and feeder wiring systems in commercial and residential construction.
The 5221 is suited for 3/4 inch trade size EMT installations in environments where moisture resistance and concrete-tight integrity are required. Its straight connector profile accommodates standard panel knockouts and enclosure entries. The concrete-tight and water-resistant rating makes it appropriate for use in wet or damp locations, conduit embedded in concrete slabs, and similar demanding installation conditions encountered in commercial, industrial, and residential electrical work.
Designed as a compression-style OEM-replacement and new-installation fitting for 3/4 inch trade size EMT conduit systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for conduit fittings and enclosure entries. De-energize all circuits in the affected enclosure before beginning work. Compression fittings require the conduit end to be cut square and deburred before inserting into the fitting body and tightening the compression nut. Do not overtighten the compression nut with tools beyond hand-firm plus a quarter turn, as deformation of the fitting body can compromise the seal and conductivity.
