The THOMAS BETTS 31015 is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for compression-style connections in electrical wiring applications. It features a copper contact construction and accepts a 1/2 inch stud for secure, low-resistance termination. The terminal measures 3-1/16 inches in overall length and 1-3/8 inches in ring width, with a thickness of 11/32 inches. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors typically install this type of terminal where a bare, high-conductivity copper lug is required and insulation is handled separately by sleeving or the surrounding assembly. It meets CSA, UL Listed, and RoHS compliance standards.
This square ring terminal is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where compression-terminated copper lugs are specified. It is commonly used on bus bars, transformer connections, switchgear terminations, and heavy-duty panel wiring where a square ring profile provides positive mechanical alignment on the stud. The non-insulated design allows installers to apply heat-shrink or other insulation as required by the application or local code.
Designed as an OEM-style compression ring terminal for use with 1/2 inch studs in commercial and industrial electrical panel, switchgear, and transformer wiring applications where a non-insulated copper square ring lug is required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating or inspecting any ring lug connection. Use a calibrated compression tool rated for the conductor size and terminal being installed to achieve a proper cold-weld crimp. Do not over-compress or re-crimp a terminal that has already been fully seated.
