The THOMAS BETTS 270 is a 90-degree conduit connector designed for use with flexible metal conduit (FMC). Built from malleable iron, it uses a squeeze clamp connection method to secure FMC terminations at panel knockouts, junction boxes, and enclosures. The non-insulated design and malleable iron construction make it rated for hazardous location applications where a durable, code-compliant fitting is required. This fitting is installed by licensed electricians during commercial and industrial rough-in work where FMC transitions to a box or enclosure. The 3/4-inch trade size accommodates standard 3/4-inch FMC runs.
The THOMAS BETTS 270 is suited for electrical installations in both commercial and industrial environments, particularly where hazardous location ratings are required. The 90-degree body angle allows FMC to terminate perpendicularly into enclosures, panels, or junction boxes, reducing bend stress on the conduit at the termination point. It is commonly used by electricians in facilities wiring, machine tool connections, and equipment hookups where flexible conduit is routed into metal enclosures in tight or confined entry conditions.
Designed for use with 3/4-inch trade size flexible metal conduit (FMC). Rated for hazardous location applications as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for FMC terminations and hazardous location wiring. De-energize all circuits and verify lockout/tagout procedures are in place before installing or replacing conduit fittings. The squeeze clamp mechanism should be tightened with appropriate hand tools to achieve a secure connection without over-stressing the fitting. Confirm the connector is listed and appropriate for the specific hazardous location classification at the job site before installation.
