The THOMAS BETTS 1H is a hex split bolt connector designed for joining and tapping copper conductors in electrical wiring applications. Manufactured from copper alloy, this split bolt provides a secure, low-resistance mechanical connection between conductors ranging from 6 to 2 AWG. The hex head design allows for consistent torque application using standard wrenches, reducing the chance of over-tightening. With an overall length of 1-11/32 inches, a head width of 11/16 inches, and a base width of 7/8 inches, the 1H fits into standard junction boxes and splice locations encountered in residential and commercial electrical work.
This connector is suited for splicing or tapping copper wire runs in branch circuit wiring, service entrance work, and panel feed applications. Electricians use hex split bolt connectors when a reliable mechanical bond is needed between two conductors without soldering. The 6 to 2 AWG range covers common wire sizes found in residential circuits, light commercial branch circuits, and feeder taps. After installation, the connection is typically wrapped with self-fusing or vinyl electrical tape rated for the application voltage.

Wrap the completed connection with listed electrical tape suitable for the circuit voltage and environment.
