The THOMAS BETTS 147 is a malleable iron conduit locknut designed to secure rigid and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) fittings to enclosures, panels, and junction boxes. At a 2-1/2 inch trade size, this locknut uses a threaded connection to lock conduit connectors firmly in place, preventing loosening from vibration or mechanical stress. The non-insulated design is rated for non-hazardous area installations. This locknut is suited for use in rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems at the 2-1/2 inch trade size. Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize all circuits and lock out power to the panel or enclosure before beginning conduit termination work. Thread the locknut onto the conduit connector and tighten securely against the enclosure wall using a locknut wrench or hammer and screwdriver to ensure a solid mechanical and electrical bond. Do not overtighten to the point of cracking the fitting.
