The THOMAS BETTS 145SL is a steel, non-insulated conduit locknut designed to secure rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) to enclosures, junction boxes, and panel knockouts. At a 1-1/2 inch trade size, it fits the threaded end of the conduit and threads onto the fitting or hub to create a tight mechanical connection. The threaded connection type ensures a secure, low-resistance bond between the conduit and the enclosure wall. This locknut is rated for watertight area-of-application use, making it suitable for installations where moisture resistance is a priority. The 145SL is intended for use with 1-1/2 inch trade size rigid metal conduit and IMC systems. Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment for 1-1/2 inch trade size rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) threaded installations.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 344 for rigid metal conduit or Article 342 for IMC. De-energize all circuits and lock out the panel before working inside enclosures. Thread the locknut onto the conduit end, insert through the knockout, and tighten securely with channel-lock pliers or a locknut wrench to ensure proper mechanical and electrical contact with the enclosure wall. Do not over-tighten to the point of deforming the knockout or stripping the conduit threads.
