The THOMAS BETTS 1455 is a thermoplastic knockout plug designed to seal unused conduit knockouts in electrical enclosures. It fits 1-1/2 inch conduit openings and is listed for use with rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) installations. The plug maintains enclosure integrity by closing open knockouts, helping to prevent contamination, debris ingress, and unauthorized access to wiring. It meets NFPA 70, UL 514B, and CSA standards, making it a code-compliant solution for both new construction and retrofit applications. Electricians and electrical contractors install this plug during panel builds, junction box work, and enclosure finishing tasks.
This knockout plug is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations wherever an unused 1-1/2 inch knockout needs to be closed. Common applications include panelboards, junction boxes, pull boxes, and other metallic or non-metallic enclosures. It is installed after conduit routing is complete and remaining open knockouts must be sealed per NEC requirements. The thermoplastic construction resists corrosion and provides a secure, lasting fit in standard knockout openings.
Designed for use with rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) conduit systems. Fits standard 1-1/2 inch conduit knockout openings in electrical enclosures.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NFPA 70 and applicable local codes. De-energize the enclosure completely before working inside any electrical box or panel. Press the knockout plug firmly into the open knockout until it seats securely. Verify all unused knockouts are sealed before returning the enclosure to service, as required by NEC Article 110.
