The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn8strwhtmr is an 8 AWG stranded copper THHN building wire rated for 600 volts and 90 degrees C in dry environments. The conductor is made from soft-drawn copper with 19-strand construction, giving it flexibility for pulling through conduit runs. PVC insulation with a nylon jacket provides abrasion and chemical resistance under normal service conditions. Ampacity is 40 amps at 60 degrees C, 50 amps at 75 degrees C, and 55 amps at 90 degrees C, making it suitable for a wide range of branch-circuit and feeder applications. This wire is supplied cut to length, which reduces waste on job sites where a full spool is not needed.
THHN 8 AWG wire is used in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations. Typical applications include branch circuits, panel feeder runs, and equipment connections where the wire is routed inside conduit — EMT, rigid, or PVC. The white insulation color is commonly used for neutral conductors in multi-wire branch circuits or as a phase conductor when field-marked per NEC requirements. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors handle installation in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local amendments.
Designed for use in conduit systems as a general-purpose THHN building wire for branch-circuit and feeder wiring in residential and commercial construction.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in compliance with the NEC and local electrical codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before making any connections. Wire must be installed inside an approved conduit or raceway — direct burial and exposed outdoor use are not rated applications for THHN without additional listed protection. Verify conductor ampacity derating requirements when bundling multiple current-carrying conductors in the same raceway per NEC 310.15.
