The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn6strblk500r is a 6 AWG stranded copper conductor wire rated for THHN applications, supplied on a 500-foot reel. It carries a 600-volt rating and a 90 degrees F (dry/wet) temperature rating, making it suitable for branch circuit wiring in conduit runs. The conductor is built from 19-strand copper for flexibility during pull-in, insulated with PVC, and jacketed in nylon for abrasion resistance. Ampacity is 55 amps at 60 degrees C, 65 amps at 75 degrees C, and 75 amps at 90 degrees C. Licensed electricians use this wire for feeders, branch circuits, and service entrance wiring inside conduit in commercial and residential installations.
This wire is well suited for use in indoor and outdoor conduit systems where a black-insulated 6 AWG conductor is required. Common applications include panel feeder runs, sub-panel wiring, motor branch circuits, and HVAC disconnect feeds. The 500-foot reel format reduces the need for mid-run splices on longer pulls and is a practical quantity for multi-circuit rough-in work on residential or light commercial projects. The black insulation color is standard for ungrounded hot conductors in compliance with NEC color conventions.
Designed for use in conduit systems requiring THHN-rated 6 AWG copper wire, including EMT, rigid metal conduit, and PVC conduit installations in residential and light commercial electrical work.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any connections. Use appropriate wire pulling lubricant for long conduit runs to avoid insulation damage. Do not exceed the ampacity ratings listed for the applicable temperature column of the connected terminations.
