The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn4/0strblkmr is a 4/0 AWG stranded copper THHN building wire rated for 600 volts. The conductor is made up of 19 strands of copper, insulated with black PVC thermoplastic and jacketed in nylon. It carries a 90 degrees C dry temperature rating and is available cut to the length required for the job. Current capacity is 195 amps at 60 degrees C, 230 amps at 75 degrees C, and 260 amps at 90 degrees C. This wire is a standard choice for licensed electricians pulling large-feeder and service-entrance circuits in residential and commercial applications.
This wire is suited for use in conduit as a feeder conductor in panelboards, switchgear, and large equipment connections. At 4/0 AWG it handles high-ampacity runs where NEC Article 310 ampacity tables call for conductors in this size range. The cut-to-length format minimizes waste on job sites where a full reel is not practical. It is appropriate for dry locations and is commonly pulled in EMT, rigid metal, or PVC conduit systems.
Designed for use as a THHN building wire conductor in conduit systems where 4/0 AWG copper is required by load calculations or NEC ampacity tables.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 310 and any applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating conductors at any panel, disconnect, or equipment. Use appropriately rated lugs and terminals listed for use with copper conductors of this size. Avoid exceeding the minimum bend radius of the conduit system to prevent insulation damage during the pull.
