The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn10solgry500r is a 10 AWG solid plain copper THHN building wire rated at 600 volts, supplied on a 500-foot spool. The conductor is insulated with PVC and jacketed with nylon, the standard construction for THHN wire. It carries a 90 degrees C dry temperature rating and a 75 degrees C wet temperature rating. The gray insulation color distinguishes it from other circuit conductors during rough-in and inspection. Licensed electricians use this wire for branch circuit wiring in conduit installations in residential, commercial, and light industrial applications.
This wire is suited for use in dry or damp conduit runs where THHN-rated conductors are required by code. The 10 AWG solid conductor is commonly pulled in EMT, rigid metal conduit, or PVC conduit for 20-amp branch circuits at 60 degrees C or 30-amp applications at the full 90 degrees C rating. The 500-foot spool quantity is appropriate for small to mid-size rough-in jobs. Gray-insulated THHN is frequently used for dedicated circuits, multi-wire branch circuits, or anywhere a non-standard color is specified to reduce conductor confusion.
Designed for use in conduit systems where THHN-type building wire is required by NEC or local electrical code. Compatible with standard conduit fittings and wire management systems accepting 10 AWG conductors.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and verify lockout/tagout procedures before pulling or terminating wire. THHN wire must be run inside an approved conduit or raceway — it is not rated for direct burial or free-air use without conduit. Use appropriate wire-pulling lubricant for long conduit runs to avoid insulation damage.
