The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn2stryelmr is a 2 AWG stranded copper THHN building wire with yellow PVC insulation and a nylon jacket, rated for use in dry and wet locations up to 90 degrees C. Constructed with 19 strands of copper for flexibility during pull-through in conduit runs, this wire carries a 600-volt rating and delivers ampacity of 95 amps at 60 degrees C, 115 amps at 75 degrees C, and 130 amps at 90 degrees C. Electricians use it for branch circuit wiring, feeder runs, and panel connections in commercial and residential installations. The outer diameter measures 0.381 inches and weight runs 241 pounds per thousand feet.
This wire is suited for conduit-installed branch circuit and feeder applications in both residential and commercial construction. The yellow insulation color aids in phase identification and circuit tracing during installation and maintenance. It is commonly pulled through EMT, rigid metal conduit, or PVC conduit in service entrance, subpanel feeder, and large-load branch circuit work. Licensed electricians install this wire in compliance with NEC requirements for conductor sizing, ampacity derating, and conduit fill calculations.
Designed as a general-purpose THHN building wire for use in conduit systems where 2 AWG copper conductor wire meeting 600-volt, 90 degrees C insulation standards is specified.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating conductors at any panel, disconnect, or device. Use appropriate wire-pulling lubricant and verify conduit fill does not exceed NEC limits for the conduit type and size. Confirm terminal ratings at lugs and breakers are rated for the conductor temperature rating being applied.
