The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn12strblk500r is a 12 AWG stranded copper THHN building wire rated for 600 volts and 20 amps. The conductor is made up of 19 strands of copper, providing flexibility that solid wire cannot match in conduit pulls and tight bends. A PVC insulation jacket with a nylon outer jacket — standard for THHN construction — gives it a temperature rating of 90 degrees C in dry environments. This 500-foot spool is the standard working quantity for electricians running branch circuits, feeders, and control wiring in residential and light commercial work.
This wire is used in conduit runs for general-purpose 20-amp branch circuits such as kitchen outlets, bathroom circuits, garage circuits, and similar applications governed by the National Electrical Code. The stranded construction makes it easier to route through EMT, rigid conduit, and flexible conduit compared to solid conductor wire of the same gauge. Electricians working new construction, tenant improvement, and service upgrade jobs will find the 500-foot spool a practical stocking quantity.
Designed as a general-purpose THHN building wire suitable for installation in conduit systems per NEC Article 310 and applicable local electrical codes.
THHN wire must be installed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 310 and all applicable local codes. Always de-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage with a meter before pulling or terminating wire. This wire is rated for dry locations at 90 degrees C; verify the installation environment meets that rating before use. Use appropriate wire-pulling lubricant for long conduit runs to avoid insulation damage.
